so i was pretty damn certain my alternator went out, but when i took it and my battery to have them tested the alternator was good and the battery was bad.. so i put the alternator back on and about a day later the new battery is out of juice... but the alternator tested good?

 

Get a new place to check the alternator. Check ALL grounds.

 

checked all grounds, and that is what i was thinking.. thanks

 

Also if it is found to be bad and you buy a new one make them test it right there (the new one) to make sure it is good. Too many guys get them and put them on to find they were junk out of the box, I found that one out the hard way myself. Two day old alt went out on a road trip luckily I was back where I grew up and had access to tools and hanger.

 

yeah i know how that is.. my buddy bought a rebuild alternator from autozone a while back and the pully was lopsided.. the guy at the counter insisted that it was just our immagination, so we made them put it on the tester and finally gave us a different one

 

Sorry if i am jacking your thread, but i have the same exact problem, and the alternator tested good.

How did you get it fixed, what are the grounds that i should have checked, and do you have images of how the grounds look like. I would really appreciate it.

 

i took toad's advice and had the alternator tested again, even though it still tested good i went to the junk yard and got another one just for the heck of it, cause i was 99.99% positive the alternator was bad.. and the new alternator did the trick
