Default well guys I need ur help and advice on paint

If anyone could give me advice on this issue I would really be greatful. Well I accidently scraped my back bumper all the way down to the black plastic bumper and I wanted some advice on what I should do. I've thought about fixing it myself, but the ? that I have is 1.Should I sand down just that one part, bondo, primer, and paint it. 2. Take the whole bumper off, prep it and just paint the whole thing over. Or 3. Just take it a shop and let them do it.? any advice would be helpful.

where's the scratch?

if its in the center of the bumper, you need to take it off and redo the whole thing in order for it blend in. if its on the side. you might be able to sand, prep, and paint to good blend.

I have a similar problem. I got too close to the concrete post at my parking spot and gently scraped my passenger side door. About 5 inches by 5 inches. No dent in the metal, just some horizontal scraping. Looks like it may buff out (some). Is this a job for a body shop? Dealer? Home repair? I do have a small bottle of touch up from Honda but that stiff always looks like sh*t...
Any suggestions?

How low is the scratch??? i would say just get the rear lip with the posibility of maybe covering it up.

ok, having recently messed with painting 2 spots on my hood and fender. let me say this... You will never get it close to the original paint doing it yourself. But if you take it to the dealer, they gonna slap a huge estimate on the paint job. Things like they have to paint the surrounding area also because of fading and stuff. So if you don't want to spend that much money on fixing it, don't go to the dealer or bodyshop. Then again you wouldn't be getting a perfect paint job.

To do it yourself, best bet is to get a local paint shop that can match your paint and make it into a spray can. Then get another can of clear coat. Go home, sand the area down with all that sanding techniques. Only sand the areas that you want to paint, don't sand the surroundings. Once sanding is done, spray primer on, sand some more, and more primer. Once you are satisfied with that surface. Tape around the damaged area, make sure don't tape along the line of the damage area. Tape around the general damage area.

Because if you tape around the area and paint it, it'll come out with tape lines, and that's sometihng you don't want. So tape in a bigger circle if the area is like a small circle. Once you are ready, spray paint the damaged area, DO NOT spray the whole area that are not taped, just the damage area. Do 2-4 coats or until the paint has covered the primer evenly, and you are not seeing primer color anymore. Let it dry for a hour then spray clear coat 2-4 coats. Let it dry, and don't wash your car or wax it for a week.

Also when you paint, you have to make sure the temperture is above 65, otherwise the paint will not look good. Once the clearcoat is dry, you can wetsand (sandpaper and water) the area and buff it off with polishing compound. If you do everything correctly, the paint will get close to the original quality, but you'll still see it when you get close to the bumper (in your case). But hey, that beats the 650 bucks I was quoted for 2 1inch and a half spots lol.

To blend it perfectly your going to need a air compressor, high quality tools, and one of the most important a quality paint gun to match it perfectly. One like this, nearly 400 bucks for this sexy thing. It's what the pros use. No rattle can, can blend as seamlessly as this. Not only that, clear coat needs a catalyst to last. Anything in a spray can will flake off after a few months. I suggest taking it to a professional.
