90/91 Si transmission + 89 Flywheel, PP, Clutch?
Hey guys, I feel like a total noob asking this question, but I haven't dropped my tranny for about a year and a half/search just got me more confused.
The question is...
If I have an 89' Si tranny w/ the 89' clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate; can I just bolt up a 90-91 Si transmission and go? Or do some parts need to be swapped out?
Thanks in advance!

Ok the 87-89 trans have the same spline i thing it the 21 spine and the 90-00 trans are 20 spline which ever one is bigger shaft so that means u will have to have a 90+ cluch kit i think the flywheels are the same they should be.

Thanks for the input
. Yeah, this whole issue is really confusing me, because from what i've heard the 90-91's have a larger flywheel/clutch over the 88-89's (i.e. larger spline count)?
Any other input for a definitive answer? Never had to deal with this before because I just rebuilt what I had previously (although it would seem that I've been beating too hard on my setup haha).
Thanks!

the problem you have is that the 89 clutch disk you have is the wrong spline count for the 90+ trans. you just need a 90+ clutch disk and you are golden.
the 89 flywheel and pressure plate are the same as the 90-2000, the only difference on the 89 is the spline count on the input shaft which is why you only need the clutch disk.
good luck.

Thanks a lot man, I knew something had to be different between the years!

</TD></TR></TABLE>89 transmissions have the same spline on the input shaft as 90-91 transmissions - 88 is the only one that is different - 89 uses a 200mm diameter clutch and 90 and up use a 212mm diameter clutch - you can't bolt the 90 and up clutch to the 89 flywheel or vice versa but you can use the 90-91 transmission with 89 clutch or the 89 transmission with 90-91 clutch
