this made me think of the time my FITV went bad, this caused the idle to bounce around from 1000-1500 rpm. and while i was driving it, the bouncing idle would rev(in gear) a bit when i was in that rpm range, causing it to jerk(as if i just tapped the gas).
i'm not sure how this compares to a broken mount, as i have no experience there.

does this jerking only happen at certain rpms?

hmm, when i let go of the gas it decelerates real fast, then when it gets to idle, its like someone gives it gas... its also hard to pull away smooth in first

in for answers.

sp33, does your motor idle correctly,or does it bounce around? if yes, is it the motor cold or warm.

and eveybody else posting, make sure your motor idles proprerly.

I've always had this problem (was worse when my waterpump was going out because of the added load on engine), but I've always attributed this problem to the cable clutch. Mounts are fine too, dunno. I just got used to it over time and I can get out of first smoothly 99.5% of the time .

In for answers since I'll be pulling the motor again in a few weeks .

The motor idles fine, it idles slightly low with the aircon on (slightly low for my liking that is) but still fine all the same. Its consistent and doesnt jump around at all. I dont usually rev the engine passed 2ish when the engines cold, so i only notice it when the cars warm.

In 2-3 weeks time I'll let you guys know if I fix the problem as I'm pulling the motor anyways. Might just fill all of the mounts with window weld as I have a tube laying round', but all of the bolts will be re-torqued when I put the motor back in .

ok, its like if you were driving in a parking lot in first gear and you let off the gas then the car will slow down, then if you wana go a little faster press the gas it will jerk front to back fron to back sometimes i need to put in the clutch then let it out slow...it looks like its a student driver driving a 5speed for the first time. so idk i wana to re-torque the bolts what should i re-torque them at??

ok well im having the same problem lol. Im here because i think i can answer it. When your slowing down and let of the gas it needs to catch the rpms the right way in order to not jerk, let go of the gas real slow and see how it is and also the rpms still are low went letting go of the clutch and that will do it too when taking off.

i could be wrong, but i think this has nothing to do with shifting, its acting jerky in 1st gear when slowing down.

yea thats what i mean. like in first say you give some gas up to 3k then you let go off the gas it jerks. You have to let it go slowly till you feel it slow down by itself

LOL I have some massive engine brake... If I rev up to 3k in first and let go of the throttle, I really JERK. Hell, it happens in all gears for me. Don't think that's too good for my engine...

Fuzzy!! That is a loose mount problem!... umm I had the same problem before and my rear mount was missing two bolts... yep massive jerking which led to a premature failure of my transmission... I replaced my tranny and it still does it only because my idle is funny...
