to smoke tailglights right i would open up the lights and paint the reflective chrome a transparent black.
you should have left it stock. i would focus on your drop(needs to drop more) and get a one piece sir wing.
kind of like this the one on the bottom it looks to be like a reflective black and the top is just chrome.

yeah, i wasnt to satisfied with it either... im thinking about getting the red/clear tail lights instead, and im also saving up for a duckbill wing...
as for the drop, i had it droped another inch, and kept scraping my exhaust EVERYWHERE... i live out in the country, so i pretty much gatta keep it that high to keep my bumper from hitting something and flying off.

first coat was really light (i liked it) but since technicaly this is my brothers car, he added on another heavy coat to REALLY smoke the tail lights... i might look for another pair of lights, and add on a light coat and see how that looks.
any ideas for prep work? ive heard just a slight scuff with a brillo pad or something is good enough.

You shaved your moldings, so anything you do from now on will not matter. I think you should find some OEM tails and just leave them the way they came.
