is 10.6:1 compression ideal for these cams? i know if you have too low compression, the cams will actually make your car slower than stock. OR if you have too high compression with stock cams, it has the same effect. gimme yalls thoughts.

 

10.6 is not ideal for them, but they do fairly well on stock compression, I have a dyno to back it.

They stay pretty much exactly with the stock cams until about 6k if I remember right, and then they take over by as much as 15-20whp if I remember right, they'll make power until about 8200rpm.

 

green line is stock cams on a good tune

blue line is crower3s on a semi-shitty tune

red line is after a cam adjustment for peak hp, but lost some low end for it.

I feel that if you tuned it well all over the rpm range you could pick up some midrange, but I never got the chance.

crower3 is a big cam with lots of duration. With lots of duration and overlap, you need compression to help keep the engine in motion or it will fall on its face. The only person that i know of that has had great experience with these cams on a jdm block is skunked. But he has a freak motor, IMO, lol.

Crower stage 3 cams are quite large for stock compression and no head job, given an engine fully suited to use them, however, their duration wold contribute to some good power I believe.

I would have made a lot more power with a milder set of cams and a proper exhaust setup, among other things, a big one would be a better tune though. I would have gone with pro1s if they were available then, just because I wanted to stay stock CR.

The breakage issue was gone ages ago, so stop slandering. Blox is a ripoff dishonest company, so your support of them furthers my opinion of your ignorance to many things.

In reply to the OP: With 12:1 compression or greater I believe you'd see some good numbers, they're not any worse in the low end than stock on 10.6:1, and they pick up top end, with more CR, I think you'd see better gains across the rpm range.

But how did the C3's in his motor compare to the Blox2's he's running now. I assume the Blox2's performed better or he'd still be running the C3's.

Thats why it was typed like that....?... Skunked swears by them, he's VERY fast, seems like a cheap option at $220/pair. Your attitude towards BLOX is much like mine towards Crower and I can respect that.

Breakage issue.....and you forgot the fucked my friend with horrible service and left him out $thousands$.....Crower never gets a $1 from me and I WILL bash them when I have the chance.
If we compare your C3 Dyno to my JUN3 dyno[at same compression] you can see where money was well spent....

The only CAM Companies I support are JUN and Skunk2 because I have directly used them with fantastic results. More than I can say for the average Crower user...

My attitude toward Blox is that they rip off other people's R&D work and make money off it, and for that, I dislike their company. ********.

Again, the JUN cams are not as huge as the crower3 cams are, you still fail at reading or understanding that, and why that matters here.

Also, I'll sacrifice a few whp for a set of $350 cams versus a $1000 set. JUNs are great cams but they're too expensive and hard to find.

i would hope a set of 1000 cams would out perform a 350 set. but for the money crower makes good power. like matt said all that extra money for a few more horses aint worth it. you can spend that money elsewhere and see more gains. get off of that crower makes bad cams. they had a bad batch. so what its over and done with. yea it was beat up how they left your boy out to dry but hell thats life. i cant begin to tell you all the **** ive been through with my build. matt can tell you first hand all the money ive thrown away on the same type of **** happening. you cant control it so get off and on with life. matt has proven his point so leave it be.

A few WHP for the $350 to $1k comparison.....Take a look at your TQ with the C3's. Hahahaha.......I paid $800 for mine btw and they found me. $450 for a pair of S2S1's would've embarassed the C3's@10.6:1cr.

The parts I have bought and used plus the parts that friends have bought and used plus the parts my shop has used.........
