Default Headlights are worsed after cleaning kit

My headlight housing looks even worse now that I used some cleaning kit from Autozone. The kit came with 4 types of sandpaper: 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 grits. It also came with this buffing cream. It wasn't just useless, it made the matter worse.

What can I do now to improve things? Thanks.

You have to use something that can actually cut out all the sanding marks you just put in by sanding them. Find someone with the knowledge to finish them.

I wet sanded my headlights. With a 2000 grit then used Plastic X.
About 3-5 times. Came out real nice for me

i used buffing compound on my friends headlights, they were some cheap ebay plastic headlights that had clearcoat cracking on them...
the buffing compound cut through the clearcoat pretty well with a buffer. it didn't get the whole headlight completely clean the 1st session, but were gonna go back over it every otherr week or so and buff his headlights until the clearcoat is completely gone then use some good soap and water and plastx the headlights..
the reason i chose buffing compound over plastx is i saw greater results from the buffing compound than from the plastx initially...

I used the kit from Walmart. Worked amazing on my JDM 1 Piece Headlights 92 Integra. It was $20 and best money ever spent! They come out crystal clear and stay clear because you seal the lens.

Also, don't rush it. Sand, Sand, Sand, and more Sand. Then if you can get someone with a professional buffer and knows how to work it, get them to buff on the first stage of plastic polish, then you can lay the clear coat down after.. They will look SICK!!!!

the problem is that you are seeing the scratches from the fine sand paper. it makes it look like a haze.

you are buffing by hand it will take a few times and tons of elbow grease to bring them back.

get a professional buffer to finish it for you
