Default D15b7

ok b4 i start remember this b7 shortblock was completely free... i have access to a machine shop so bore, hone, rod recondition, etc is all free. With that said i have a D15b7 shortblock w/ crank, rods, tossed the pistons and was thinking about using some vitara or forged piston (not sure yet) for boost. My question is would it be safe and reliable to micropolish these rods and run about 200-250 whp with a good tune. Does anyone have experience with this? Would also like to know if i should pick up a rebuilt Z6 head (needs valve guides) and go mini-me or get another b7 head and rebuild it myself thanx for replies?

If you're going to take the engine apart (or if its apart already) and you plan to build it, spend the extra money and get a set of Eagle or Tuner Toys rods...they're cheap insurance. D series rods are the weakpoint....

just work with what you have already...if it blows then oh well, it was a free junk motor to begin with so you wouldnt be losing anything, but I think you would be fine as long as the tune is good.

and another thing: D15B7 rods are splinters if a D16 rod is a toothpick.

that motor should hold up to 180-210HP, but expect to break something.
