carbon fiber yellowing restore.....
well i have great info for those interested. i recently bought a wrecked del sol and it had a ridiculously faded and yellowed carbon hood. so out of experementing i have a solution to this. you start with 400 grit sand paper bringing down all of the yellow then switch it up to 600 to remove your sand lines. switch to number seven rubbing compound then to number seven polishing compound. then to meguiars plastic polish. and finally with your favorite wax. sorry i didnt get you guys a step by step picture show but this is a excellent fix
personally i think every new cf hood, trunk , etc...should be blocked and sprayed with a UV clear.
The CF comes from the manufacturer with a "decent" clear coat/ gel coat.
but most of the time that coat dose not have any UV in it.
Then after time the sun has it way and starts yellowing the resin or clouding up that manufacturers top coat.
The ViS CF hood thats on my CRX looked good when i got it but after the bodyshop blocked and cleared it, it went from good to daaaaaamn!
The cf weave pops out so much more, and has alot more depth to it.
just my .02
