How to fix cracks in carbon fiber?
My carbon fiber hood is starting to get some cracks in it. Not sure if it is from flexing or what. Is there a way to fix it like fiberglass?
I was thinking sanding down the clear coat and sand out the hairline cracks. Then getting some sort of clear resin to fill the cracks and reclear the hood?
Can it be fixed or am I just dreaming here at work today? Any info would be great. Thanks

If its only on the clear coat, you could sand the clear coat off and spray it again.
Before doing that i suggest trying to buff them out.
If its in the hood deep (your probably not gonna like what i have to say) you would have to drill a hole at the beginning of the crack and at the end to stop it from growing. Then put fiberglass in there or CF if you could find it. and then re clear coat it.

It works. I don't know about the strength. I have yet to install my CF lip but I did crack the clear coat tagging a cone in autocross. I picked the clear that lifted and applied clear resin. Once it dried, I sanded it smooth then polished. Looks like new.
