Default Is this rod knock? **Vid Link**

Car is a 97 Civic CX-G

Kind of a weird situation. The sound tells me yes. Here is where it gets weird. The car started making this noise as soon as I came to a stop on the highway offramp. Not even SLIGHT knocking or sound before this. It is faster and louder at higher RPM's. Got to the end of the street (.25 miles)and the car shut off. No CEL nothing. Started it up.. it choked a bit but got going.. Made my right and got to the end of my street (.25 miles) and the car died as i hit the brakes to turn on my street. Couldnt start it. Seemed like a power issue. Lights etc were on.. Hazards were on.. no CEL but just wouldnt crank. Hooked up a jump pack. Car started up.. Drove it to my garage and here we are. and even now if i leave it for a few hours it wont turn over.. i need the jump pack.

Original Battery and Alternator. Car was burning oil before this. I have another motor sitting in the garage so im good on that but wtf?

Can rod knock cause it to not turn over?

Edit: Also not a drip of smoke

its weird that it wont turn over.

take a long screw driver and put it up to your ear, then put the tip of it on different areas of the motor and pin point where the sound is coming from.

it does sound like a knock to me, but as i said, weird it wont turn over now that it started.

It sounds like some sort of knocking, whatever it is, its not too good sounding.
Id look to replacing that motor soon.

Sounds like both valves and rod knock. The louder noise is your valves but you could hear a hint of rod in the back ground. Video alone i would say that motors toast. Would have to look at it to give a better assessment.

Motor is swapped.. Back up and running.

Also for the power issue.. This 97 Civic had the original battery.. it just happened to kick the bucket as the same time as the bearing. Swapped it and she is good to go!

Thanks for your help
