Default 3rd Gear grinding!!

hey I have a 1994 civic ex coupe and it grinds a lot whenever I shift in to 3rd gear? any pointers on what I could do?...I know about the synchromesh fluids and I'm also wondering if there's a specific one that should be used? any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanx!!

the syncromesh you want to use is sold at GM dealerships, not sure on the part number, but its GM syncromesh modified fluid.

make sure its the modified fluid though, the normal doesn't work as well i hear.

[edit] price per quart varies on dealer to dealer, but ive seen $7-$15 usually

If it grinds, its saying "Something in here is broken. Find out what it is and Fix me" .Chances are its the 3rd gear clusteror the shidft fork, usually trashed by missing 3rd too many times. I did it to my car long ago. Find a good tranny shop and have them check it out. Dont fill it with GM fluid just to mask the noise, fix it or your trans might just completely **** the bed on you.

I have driven for sometime with the broken fork. But began to think about getting it fixed when it would grind every time.
