I want to put a carbon fiber hood onto my car, but I want it to match the color of my car. How can I get it painted, can it be done after being shipped/bought or is it a custom order? TIA

Carbon fiber hoods can be painted by good body shops, but why? The intent is weight reduction. The paint weighs some (only a little, but some).

mix a little paint with clear coat, then spray the hood.

 

what about sanding and stuff? How do i remove the previous clear coat or should I leave it? more details please.

 

let the body shop worry about that part. they have ways of doing it without the clearcoat peeling off later down the road.

 

You can buy cf hoods with a color already weaved into them. I know for a fact FiberImages offers color cf hoods. If you want to paint your hood to match with the rest of your car and still want weight savings, I'd suggest getting a fiberglass hood then. They're just as light and you can paint it any color you want.

 

You can also paint the cf hoods any color you want, my friend works at a body shop he just painted one for a car babyblue, all you do it give it a wetsand,primier,paint,clear and your done.
