need help with 93 accord
Hi everyone I have a problem and need some help, and was hoping to find it here. I have a 93 honda accord se it came with a 2.2 sohc engine. well the engine locked up oil pump quit. So I bought an engine off of ebay it was one of the japanese imports. it was a 2.2 dohc f22b engine well I had the engine put in and it doesn't run right the distributor has to be advanced for it to even run and it wants to cut out and if you turn on the ac it dies. on top of it keeps fouling out plugs. ok I took it to 2 mechanics both tell me its my computer and that if I got the computer for that engine it would fix the problem cause its not getting enough fuel its sending the ratio for a sohc and not a dohc which requires more fuel and it doesn't register when the ac is on and it cuts off. so what I was hoping was someone could tell me something or maybe if you knew does anyone know when the 2.2 dohc engine came out and what model it was in so I could find a ecu for that engine. I contacted the ebay store and they said the couldn't help me and they didn't have a brain for it. I contacted the honda accord dealership and they couldn't help me either said they don't mess with mods.
run a H23 ecu or get a chipped one wit ha F22 base map....check your cam timing and have your alternator checked...hope this helps
ok thanks for the advice i will try to find an ecu for an h23. Do you know what cars would have that so I could just search a model. and also I have had 2 different mechanics look at the timing and both said it was right on. I will check the alternator out and see what that does.
Did you have a new map sensor come with the new motor? Any check engine lights? Yea the performance of the car will be kind of lacking but you can run the single cam ecu on the motor, I honestly haven't tried it on my f22b but i have run it on my h23, and it ran fine, the car shouldn't be stallin out like that because of the ecu. Is your EGR valve hooked up? Sometimes they act stupid and the car won't idle, so unhook the vaccum line from the intake mani, and plug it up so you don't have a vaccum leak and just leave the egr valve unhooked and see if that helps
ok thanks everyone I will see what comes of this advice maybe it will be fixed if not I will let you know what it does and maybe we can come to a solution again thanks you been more help than 2 mechanics and a honda dealership
o and I have no engine lights on at all I didn't get a new map sensor either the car idles funny right now it runs but i can't set the distributor straight it has to be turned just to run otherwise it won't even turn over I was told that the ecu controlled the firing order and that would be part of it also
