Default need serious help with adj cam gear install...

Ok so, everything seemed to go smoothly until we started the car . But anyway it is running really hard now, almost like it wants to get going, but it just starts to fade out, and stalls if I try to step on the gas. Anybody have a problem similar to this? I'm trying to just hit TDC and get it running normally, and then dyno it during the week. Someone please help with useful suggestions. Thanks guys!

Did you get the timing belt off by 1 or 2 teeth?

Honestly, I thought that both the cams and the crank were at TDC before I tightened up the belt. They look it thats for sure.

EDIT: Ok so everything is sort of back to normal. Is it possible to tighten your power steering belt too hard and cause something like this. I was kind of puzzled when the car ran like crap, because I brought everything back to perfect TDC (because as I've noticed type-r's aren't 100% TDC stock). So I made sure that the holes on the VTEC rail and the cams all lined up, while piston 1 was TDC. I started up and figured "well...should work"...but no. Although everthing seems fine now, I'm not sure what the problem was...

There is one thing that is happening differently and I'm not sure if it's just a trademark of getting cam gears or not, but my idle RPM are about 250-300 higher than normal (750-ish). Is this normal? I will dyno sometime this week, too see more of what's going on.

Keeping mind that the stock setting from the factory is 16 degrees before TDC. I'm not sure what you mean by setting the cam gears at "TDC." It's the pistons that are at TDC are various intervals, not the cam gears.

Well in a VTEC motor when your piston is at TDC you should be able to notice that one of the 4 holes on your VTEC rail will match up with a hole located in the cam. I set these while I was at TDC.

He's talking about cam timing which, on a stock car, is 0,0. Ignition timing, which is indeed 16 +/- 2 degrees BTDC, is a completely different thing, and is adjusted at the distributor rather than the cam pulleys.

So it's working now? What did you change from where you were earlier?

Still having issues. The car seemed to be running fine and then I noticed that I had NO torque at all, and I had very little power. Had all the sound of the ITR but nothing else...when I checked the timing I was at 40 degrees!! Is that even possible. Someone please help, because I need to get this back together tonight. Could I be a tooth off on both gears or something?
