Default Tokico vs. Koni

Im in the market of purchasing new shocks/struts/springs, I currently have neuspeed lowing springs, sport series, but I need to get some aftermarket shocks/struts so my car doesnt bottom out and bounce around everywhere. I was looking at Tokico D-spec vs. Koni Yellows, so far from what I know Koni's are better, but Ive also heard very good things about Tokico, any suggestions or 1st hand input?

Koni Yellows FTW!
I don't have any experience with the Tokicos but I had the Koni Yellows in my car for over 2 years and they work well both for track use and daily street use.

Koni's are "strut inserts" meaning you have to take apart your stock struts, and then insert the Koni into those, THEN install them. Tokicos already have all the brackets and such ready to be mounted up = less hassle.

As for performance, I would think they are very similar as they are both "infinitely adjustable".

no. like portaman03 said, you have to cut your stock struts in order to INSERT them in place of your stock shocks, hence "Koni Yellow Insert".

What do you mean by "huge handling difference"? Compared to stock, lowered stance and stiffer handling, what do you think?

And bro, no offense or anything...

But you have a higher post count than me, which leads me to believe that you know a thing or two about cars.

...and the search button as well.

I had Tokico Illuminas on a 1992 INTEGRA and they were great, adjustable with a screw driver. The Koni yellows were on an Audi A4 and only the rears with a modification were adjustable on the car.
The Tokicos were cheaper too.

I did a bit more research on this than any sane person should do. I've come to the descision, that the illuminas are close to the Koni's in terms of reliability, IF your spring rates are reasonable. (250-350)lb range. Any higher and koni si the way to go. Also, if youre running soft springrates or stock, konis will provide you with slightly more compression damping, making the car feel like it rolls less. If youre running an average rate lowering spring, the illuminas would be my first choise, do to price, ease of install and adjustbility. If you do go that way, I've had good luck with forcemotorsports, one of our sponsors....Probably one of the best prices around also.

I decided to go with Tokico, because i didnt want to have to buy another strut, one of my struts was leaking so in turn I needed the Tokico Dspec shock and strut assembly rather than buying konis and having to get another strut, or deal with cuting my stock struts. Thanks for all the help, Ill keep updates on the installment.
