not really. just schooling the newbie from asking retarded questions that have been answered in so many other different threads available by a search.

For a "final drive" search i found over 10 threads...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=208157
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=204825

for example.

u got a serious problem (00-0187)....

Anyway the Difference in final drives, is the 4.785 FD make the gears spin relatively quicker, compared to stock(4.40). The 4.785 FD keeps u High RPM's...

So far I have really noticed no big difference between the 2 (had the 4.78 for 1 day). I have the Toda flywheel also and all these people talking about it reving quicker, I just don't feel it. 1\4 comparison soon.

If you can't tell the differance your not driving it hard enough

You know you didn't even answer his question.

Its good for about .3 tenths in the quarter mile.......but its much happier on a road course because its easier to keep the car in the revs.

No he's right, you really are an *******.

I just ran for the fist time after 4.785 fd install.

14.60 a couple years ago with intake, header. Minor weight reduction: Back seatbacks, spare, console, pass seat. Street tires.

Last night: JDM fd, 2.5" header + exhaust, exedy clutch, spoon fly. Lots of weight reduction. 2480lbs with me: All above the above plus rear seat cushions, carpet, radio, pass aigbag, CF hood. no A/C. Z-10 bars R comp tires.

14.2 @ 97.6, 2.2x 60 ft.

The final drive definetly makes launching trickier. I found clutch slip to be most effective. I only had a few runs, and I wasn't able to nail a launch . Bog @ 4.5k, spin+hop @ 6k, Minor spin+hop from 6k with clutch slippage that was a little late.

I think that if you learn to launch with it, that mod alone is worth .3-.4 seconds. I actually get to use the 4th gear when I shift now.

[e]Looks like I'll have to play with them z-10 bars a little more...
Oh and in my defense the weather sucked. 85 deg. with 90% hum.

And Matt's right, it helps a shlode on the road course.

Actually it looks to be 4800 RPM on the tach but, in mathematical calculations is more like 4900.

about 4600 rpm at 80 mph...
indicated at 4700 rpms on stock tach. vafc shows actual to be 4500 at 80mp in stock 5th gear.....

4.785 isn't quite as bad, but it's still not quite as yummy imho.....

these gears aren't for everyone though... If you're gonna drag, take your rev limiter to 10k on your motor built to that... That way you'll only top 3rd and not have to waste time shifting into 4th.

jdm final is supposed to be worth .2-.3 in the 1320.....

ats final is... i dunno... hopefully just as good (with traction)

oh man, you're gonna love it. I have seriously dropped at least 5 seconds with that mod alone! Our region's autox is next weekend and I can't wait.

yeah, of course the first thing i did after putting it in was drive 12 hours on I-95 back to northern VA...

..well, i guess the FIRST thing was banging the snot out of it around UCF & orlando...but i still laugh at the pointless irony of shortening one's final gear before driving 900 miles at highway speed. passing trucks was super-easy tho!
