drive difference in 04 type-s and 06 type-s?
okay i own a 04 rsx type s and i drove my friends 06 and the drive was much easier.... i noticed that my 04 felt really "torqy"(if thats a word) compared to the 06 type s... i loved the way the 06 felt compared to the 04... but why is it that it feels this way.. its mostly noticeable in low rpm and low speeds. mainly in 1st and 2nd gear...
Yeah I have an 03 and I drove my friends 06 and it is so much smoother through the rpm band. Seems like the 02-04 mainly have power above 6k and the 05-06 is more spread out. We ran them (I have a short ram intake and his is stock), and we were basically even. Seemed like I had a little more pull at higher speeds but prob due to the intake.

Also the 05-06 have different cams then the 02-04. 05-06 have better cams then the 02-04 and that's prolly why it feels much smoother.

Honestly, that won't make much difference (if anything larger cams make things worse). The ECU tuning is what makes the 05-06 feel smoother.
Hondata flash on the 02-04 also does the same thing.

Yeah, the gearing is 15% shorter, so every gear in an 05-06 TypeS will have 15% more torque at the wheels just from this alone. Factor that in with a stiffer chassis, revised suspension tuning and more power and you get the better feeling car.

Also, don't forget that the 'reinforced' chassis come with 80 extra lbs. And, the 05-06 has 21lb 17" wheels compared to the 16lb 16" wheels on the 02-04. That in itself will make for a 'smoother' feel. Kind of what a heavy flywheel does...think inertia: in this instance it is basically defined as the tendency for matter to continue moving in a straight line. That = smoothness. Heavy wheel = more inertia.
Sounds trival, but it adds up.
