removing rust and body repairs how hard is it???
this is going to be my first time in an attempt to repair my DA9. need to remove rust and trying to patch rear hatch holes where the spoiler used to be. i just brought a sander...........but do not know what else i will need. what type of sand paper to start off with, any liquids to buy to prep the car, bondo, what type of name brand paint............trying to stay on a reasonable budget. any help will do thanks for reading. also, will i be able to paint the car as well, or do i need to bring it to a body shop?
gosh you just asked all the questions i'm to scared to ask
i'm doing reasearch and it just seems in order to do it correctly with all the tools needed...it almost adds up to paying someone to do it right the first time
or finding a buddy to do it for a cheap deal
which i'm lookin for right now

U are going to need to start by stripping the area aroung the rust with a grinder. U need to get all the rust out or it will come back. Depending on how big ur rust problem is, u may need some metal tabs to weld in. They may also help u in patching the holes from ur spoiler. Once all rust is removed sand the area around it with 150 grit sandpaper. Use some bono or fiberglass (preference) over the rusted area. U will then need to sand untill it is smooth. This is where it will most likely look like ****, if u never did it before. Sand ur bondo with 80 grit to knock it down, then 150, 220, and finally 400. U need to then primer ur body work. If u don't have a primer gun, get one. The primer needs to be blocked out with 400 grit dry sand paper. Then 500 grit wet sand paper. From here you are ready for paint.
