Default Weekend Road Trip to Atlanta 1500 Miles - No Tickets!

My son, Hondarcb, and I will be going from Richmond VA to Atlanta GA this Saturday to pick up a GS-R. Any tips on speed traps, etc, in NC, SC, GA to look out for?

Well the trip was a success! Drove from Richmond to Blacksburg to Atlanta and back. 1,500 miles and no tickets. Drove 75 -80 mph all the way there and back. Basically stayed with the traffic. Saw a few cops, mostly in the other direction, went through a few speed traps, but luckily I was only going 5-7 miles over the limit each time. On saturday we left Blacksburg at 6AM, made it to Atlanta at 12:30 took about 45 minutes to complete the car purchase and came on back. I got home to Richmond at 11:20 PM. Man, my butt was hurting! Anyway the car looks great. As expected my ITR ran perfect. That car is like driving a Rolex down the road. I'll let Ryan (hondarcb) post what he wants of his GS-R, but here is a sneak peek!

P.S The deer carnage on the Interstates was horrendous!

SC isn't bad on speed traps... but GA shows no mercy. They will hammer you and they hide in the trees

I wouldn't imagine that you would be on I-95 in SC (most likely I-85)...but I-95 is bad around Manning SC.

Also...there is a trooper station in Greensboro NC that has a drug task force...lots of unmarked cars with VERY dark tinted windows that like to profile guys running up and down the interstate.

Incorrect! Be VERY carefull on I-85 between Spartanburg and Anderson in SC. The speed limit is only 60 and they have been out in forces recently. I live right in the middle of this on I-85 and drive it daily. Keep it around 65mph in this area.

The GSP and the THP are both ******** so watch your speed. There are alot of "traps" where the speed limit will all of the sudden drop for a mile or two, these will usually be found around the larger cities.

+1 on hiding in the trees, they are sneaky.

You should be fine, I do wheelies from the border of SC down to Atlanta. For days!

Seriously though, be careful. Most of the GSP are recent graduates with a hunger to enforce the law! You could get pulled over littering by flicking a booger out the window at 80mph.

80mph seems like the magical number out there, keep it under 80.

Yeah the GS-R is to be his DD. He sold an immaculate 91 Civic Wagon AWD with a JRSC, big exhaust, nice suspension, etc, so he could get another Teg. He is a freak for Integras.

Thanks for the tips guys. So to recap; stay between 60 and 80 mph, ok to do wheelstands but don't pick my nose, don't be a dope, keep my eyes on the trees and I should be alright?

In all honesty, I think VA is the worst. I've made several trips to NY and Tampa on 95. I mean, radar detectors are illegal and I always forget to turn mine off on the way to race in Danville.

Once you get in to NC, it's not too bad around Roanoke Rapids all the way down to Dunn.

Congrats on the addition & post pictures of the Gs-R.

Trip was a success. See my edit. (thought the edit would push the thread up, guess not.)

Post more pics though, did your son pick that GSR up for his DD so he can keep the R safer? Looks clean, glad the trip was good...

I'm sure he will post pics. I don't want to steal his thunder. Yeah the GS-R is to be his DD. His CW is at home in the garage while he is away at VA Tech.
