Default just cranking

I have a 91 civic with a jdm b16a swapped in it, it is a obd0. All a sudden for some reason some times it will not start just crank for a while then I let it sit and it will start from some reason. Also every once in awhile it will spudder and now go any where. Could you guys help me on what I could start looking for the problem? thanks

check out your main relay. i had the same problem and it ended up being the relay, the connections in it were starting to go so every now and then it would do that.

Does the main relay always clicks when it goes bad or is it just in some cases that it happens when it is going bad?

The main relay should click, when you first start the car. It should not be clicking after that. The main relay problem which is typical is not associated with the clicking, per se. It is a function of the soldered relay contacts inside of the relay, getting cracks in them, over a period of time, to where it begins making intermittent contact. This causes the effect of the pump not running, all of the time, which in turn leads to the symptoms of turning over, but not starting, some of the time.

Most likely, your main relay is sending you messages. Second most likely, your fuel pump is sending you messages. The main relay is cheaper, easier and pretty commonly an issue. I'd get a new one, from Honda and give that a try, first.

mine does the same thing. it is very sporadic in my car I just put a new Walbro pump and I carry an extra main relay with me. I agree with gp70hs. I would try the relay first.
