Build Thread '96 Civic EX
I want to start by saying that this car is my GF's car. She bought it from a friend of mine as a daily driver, and now it's a garage queen.
Here's the story.
Back in March, she was backing out of the garage with her door cracked open so she could jump out and go do something else real quick before she left to go to work. I don't know why she wasn't paying more attemtion to what she was doing, but she hit our roommate's car.
Here's the damage.

So we talked about it, and without much deliberation, she came to the conclusion that it was time to paint the whole car. We dicided we wanted to have the car ready for the Nopi Nationals in Sept.
So I did a little research and found a place that came highly recommended to do the job, and the project was started. To get a head start on things, and also to save a little money, I began disassembly of the car to take it to the body shop.

I actually drove it to the body shop like this...

It started raining about 5 minutes away from the shop...I was lucky to get there because it started to really come down once I pulled into the shop.

Work began on the car, and I stopped by from time to time to take pictures of the process.

New door for the driver's side.

We were there for paint, too.

The body after paint.

Now this is the part that I don't have a lot of pictures of, but the first shop we went to didn't do a very good job...SO, we pulled the project about half way through and hunted down another body shop...this time it was someone that I KNEW could do a good job because I'd seen their work! I don't have any pics from this second time around because the shop was 45 miles away.
We got the car back with less than 48 hours to put it together and get on the road to the Nopi Nationals. Here was just a few pics from the 5 min break that I took in that time to turn the car around.

We left at 3am to drive to North Carolina to meet up with Johnny "JDM" Wong and Elliot Morans of Super Street and the Super Street Tour '07. There were a lot of pictures that were taken along the way...here are a couple.

FINALLY!!! We made it to the show, car intact.(thank God)

Honda-Tech Meet on Saturday night.

Monday morning on the way back to Missouri!

It has taken over 6mo. and thousands of dollars to get the body of the car done, but we had a great trip, and got lots of compliments, which makes it all worth while!
Next comes the ENGINE!!! I'll keep you guys updated on that!
Comments and questions are welcome! But I just wanted to share this story. I would also like to extend a HUGE thanks to the awesome friends I have that helped me and my GF get the car back together in such a short time, Dusty(jdbangs), Justin(black94sol), and my good friend Aaron, who's not on here. These guys did a great job sticking it out with me, and I thank you all!
PS. I hope this is in the right place, but if it's not, I'm sorry and please move it to the correct spot. THNX!

Sorry, I should have been more specific on the fact that it was a body build/paint job as opposed to an engine build...although that's already in the works, and on it's way!

Silver cars can look really clean or really boring imo. Yours is clean.

Thanks! It's actually not mine, though. It belongs to my GF.
As for the motor...this build is more of a long term goal, but the first part of the build involves either Golden Eagle or AEBS sleeved block bored to 86.5mm with 10.0:1 Roller Wave pistons, gapless piston rings, Crower or Pauter rods ,a knife-edged/balanced crank with Honda bearings and ARP rod/head studs along with a Z10 block girdle...from there, we'll see.
It should be a block worth having.
PS. No, the black wheels are not for sale. Sorry.
