What to choose...
So my older brother has a 2004 gsxr600 (low milage) and I have a 2000 yamaha yzf600r (24,000 miles). He's is about to graduate and I will be getting his bike. So here's the problem, I live in a condo on the second floor, no garage or elevator. In my neighborhood, there are other nice bikes, harleys, r6, 636, etc all kept outside like mine.
So should I keep my yzf600r and sell the gsxr or the other way around? The reason I would consider keeping my bike is because I mostly use a bike to commute to school and a lesser chance of it being stolen
. My bike has no alarm, but the gsxr does. The yzf is also much more comfortable (less aggressive riding position) and has the right amount of power at the right ranges. The gsxr has terrible power in the lower band, but I guess I can tune that later.
Some reasons why I would consider keeping the gsxr is that it has better performance, it's lighter, newer, and fuel injected.
Which one whould I keep!?

Even thoe a gixxer is not my bike of choice Id keep a 04 gixxer over a 00 yamaha just cause of resale vaule. Id say sell the 00 an buy your self a good alarm an chain, if the you worried about it getting stolen

For what you're using a motorcycle for at this point, the YZF600 sounds like the better bike.
I'm willing to bet that the YZF will beat the GSXR in a 5th gear roll on from 4000RPM to about 8000 - commuter range.

are you willin to bet your Rc51? cause you are probably wrong.
the tq/hp are probably the exact same at those RPMS.. and the gsxr has more aggressive gearing and lighter weight
the gsxr motor probably revs much quicker from lighter internals and newer technology and better fuel injection as well. in real world they are probably pretty close to dead even.
YZF 4K RPM - 22 Horsepower
YZF 8K RPM - 60 Horsepower
GSXR 4K RPM - 25 Horsepower
GSXR 8K RPM - 60 Horsepower
