Not Supposed to use JCW piping?
Hey all,
I was told by a very reputable source that using the aluminized tubing from JCW is a mistake, that it will rust. Even painting the outside will not help as it will just rust from the inside out.
For you DIY'ers out there, what did u use? Did you use the JCW piping? If so, then did u order the stainless or the aluminized?

I used aluminized and spray painted both the inside and outside. The only rust is aroud where I made the cuts on the piping and it's not that much rust.

Aluminized piping is rust resistent, not rust proof. It should not rust unless the almuniziation comes off. Mine hasn't rusted much..if you paint it, sandblast it first. Powdercoating it is really the way to go though.
Buy aluminum then
Hehe, no my piping has a light coting of rust on the inside. As far as I know the aluminized part of the pipe is only on the outside. I did spray mine flat black though. Shouldnt make any kind of difference, the only difference is money spent on either stainless or aluminum. IMO the money saved can be spent in much more needed areas.

It should not rust that badly...to where it would flake off. That's also why they come coated lightly with grease, just like firearms when they are shipped from overseas...to prevent rust. Mine have been on for over 6 months and I don't have any inside rust, and hardly any on the outside (I just had some pipes off the other day...)

Never mind that it's ghetto, it's temporary until I have a chance to get it welded and either paint it or powercoat it!
