Default 2000 R1 Normal Operating Temps...

I was just curious because I just saw my temp gauge go all of the way up to 227 and it made me really nervous because I just bought it today. haha.

Congrats on the purchase.

What conditions were you in? Stop and go traffic? Constant highway speeds?

It was stop and go when it got that high.

About 10 minutes or so prior, the temps jumped from 180 to 200 and back when I was on the freeway.

Those temps sound normal for an RC51; not so much for an R1.

No worries... the same year R6 can run up until 242 before it has any problems if i remember correctly...

just go to the yamaha motors website and register your bike, that way you can get a pdf version of the owners manual

Sounds about right if your in traffic on ahot day, like you said it went down quick after you got riding again, no worries, My rc will get that hot in traffic but 225 is the hottest ive seen it. If it goes to 240 or over you most likely have a problem, but it sounds normal to me.
