.top wont close.
yeah so today it was like 70 out so i had the top down. went back out to drive the car at like 9ish and it was 50 out so i had to put the top up. anyways i dont know if that had anything to do with it but the top came up but left about an inch gap and i kept putting it down and up and never could get it to close all the way so i had to pull it down with all my weight to fasten it and now i cant get the latches off of the strikers to put it back down because there is soo much stress on the top i assume. i dont know has anyone had this problem. what is wrong with my **** now?

. oh and the beemer is a 328i, the m3 was supposed to be next but i got the s instead

IMO... the prelude! lol
anyways, OP, does it sound like the motor is trying and the top is getting restricted, or does the motor sound like it stops trying before it reaches?

I noticed in my 2001 when i keep the top down for more than say a working day, and then go to close it, i get about a half inch to an inch gap that i need to pull on the top to close, but if i only leave it down a for a couple hours it closes just fine.
Not sure just HOW long your top was open for but give it a little bit and it may releive some stress, but fi it needs to be done ASAP take the above advice and go to the dealer.

well if it ever happens again and u need to get it up... haha i laughed at that, ummm theres an override in our manual to close the top manually... u have to disconnect something but after that you can close it yourself... youll notice the handle in the middle of the top... thats wat its there for... good luck with the ride
