Default Yet another "What is this noise" thread.

Ok guys, I've run into a load of problems with my Integra lately (it's a 97 ls, but I'm pretty sure you guys can still help me).

I have this high pitched squeaking noise when the clutch is out..but another member had a similar problem with his R and someone said clutch input bearing? Is this correct and does anyone know how hard it is to replace?

Problem 2: When I begin braking sometimes, I hear a clicking sort of sound from the left side (sounds like it's from the rear, which is very odd.)

Problem 3: When I get to 10mph or under and I press the brakes, there's a sound that goes "clunk clunk clunk" and it seems like it goes with the wheel's rotation.

Problem 4: My car takes quite a few cranks to start up sometimes (especially when cold). I did some research on using the Toyota starter rebuild kit that's around 20 bucks. My question is, it's basically just new contact points. Will this help my car start with less cranks? Or do I just need to buy a new starter?

Problem 5 & 6: When I drive down a road with bumps, the right front of my car squeaks like crazy. Also, when I go over certain bumps, the left front of my car makes a "THUD" sound and it sounds like it's coming from the suspension.

Sorry for the book here, but these problems have bugged me for a while and I can't seem to find a definite answer of what they might be.

If you have any tips/tricks/suggestions for me, or have any idea what they might be, I'd love to hear them because I have no idea. Thanks!

The first problem sounds like the input shaft bearing, which if you've down tranny work before is easy...

As for the rest of the noises sounds like you got a lot mess up....are your axles all ok? as in not snapped or broken? I would stop driving it immediately are tear apart your whole braking system and suspensoin man....easy work if you know what your doing.

It could be your battery thats causing the harder start ups, but in the cold its normal so thats the last of your worries right now.

Well I've never done tranny work, but I'm sure I could pull it off.

A couple of people have said it might be my axles, but I just got them replaced about 2 months ago.

I can't stop driving it because it's my daily driver and both my parents need their cars, but I do have new brakes since my rotors are warped right now. I have OEM pads/rotors sitting in my living room, but they won't be put on for another 3 weeks or so.

Also, I had my front 2 shocks replaced because one was blown and that's when most of these noises started. However, the guy that replaced the shocks stripped a shock fork because he used an air wrench (dumbass) and he put a driver side shock fork on the passenger side. Could that be the cause of some of these problems maybe? I'm looking for a new one right now, but besides the dealer's $51 price, I can't seem to find too many. I found 2 so far, I'll see how much they want for them and I'll buy a passenger side one soon.

What I mean by "cold" is mostly just when the car hasn't been driven for a few hours. It's not really super cold here in TX, more like 50-60 degrees in the morning and it takes 5-6-7 cranks for it to start. The battery expires in March, maybe I should get it tested and possibly buy a new one.

Thanks for the help bro, keep the suggestions coming!

honestly it sounds like your car has a shitstorm of problems your going to make worse and ruin something else if you dont stop driving it and fix it ALL.

Warped rotors, noise.

Axles 2 weeks old, prolly put on wrong or something is not right.

Suspension just worked on....

I mean come on man, your anwersing your own questions. We cannot really help you without being there to see it and drive it.

I'd put the car on blocks, redo the calipers, rotors, braking, axles, and redo the suspension work. After you do that if theres still a problem, I'd take it to a professional.

Tranny work is NOT something you want to mess around with if you haven't been taught, seen it, or done it before. Its easy to mess up and you'll be thousands in the hole if you don't do things right.

How are warped rotors going to ruin things? I took it to get checked out by a professional and they said I would be fine driving on them for another 5-6k. Which it has been 2k, and I am replacing them asap. And many, many people drive on warped rotors and have no serious problems besides the shaking.

What do you mean by redo the calipers? I have the rotors and pads like I said, and I have a warranty on my axles. So I can get all these things replaced as soon as I find time, I dont think anything bad will happen in less than 3 weeks.

I'm probably going to have my mechanic check everything out, so I'll see what's up then. Thanks for the help.
