Default Crx engine harness help!

Hi, Im trying to put a b16a into my 91 crx. I was originally going to use the engine harness off my obd0 mpfi d15 hf, but now I have to keep that car driveable, so I was wondering what engine harness I should use since my b16 is obd1 and my pr3 ecu is obd1. I have a d16z6 obd1 harness available, but ive heard both ways on whether I can use it or not. Im pretty much confused as hell, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

you need to use the engine harness that came on your car - engine harnesses are not interchangeable between models and some are not even interchangeable between different years of the same model

This car doesnt have a harness in it. So do I need to buy one for a crx? Or can I modify one to work?

buy one for a crx si, then buy a obd0-obd1 distributor conversion plug.

First off, you have an OBD0 car. The wiring and electronics in your car determine which version of OBD you have. They can be completely swapped out, but what a pain. Look at the milky white conntectors over by the passengers side shock tower; that is what your OBD0 engine harness would normally plug into. The plug ends you now have go to the dash, ECU, etc. This harness makes your car OBD0. If you look at an OBD1 Civic for instance, you will see those same connectors colored gray. The gray OBD1 plugs will not plug into milky white OBDO connectors, and vice-versa. OBD2 also uses gray connectors, but only have a 1-piece harness between the engine sensors and the ECU. There are no shock tower connectors to seperate. Your best bet is to buy a OBD0 engine harness and send it to a company specializing in OBD conversion, like http://www.rywire.com (just an example; search the forums). You will probably need to send them an OBD1 engine harness to hack for plugs. By the time you are done you will have an OBD0 harness with OBD1 sensor plugs attached. You will also need to convert your ECU over to OBD1 to support the distributor and OBD1 engine sensors. Those harnesses are readily available for less than $120.00.

Later.

I already have the ecu conversion harness from obd0 to 1. And I understand the whole color of the connector stuff now. I figured out what I need now. Thanks all.

You need to use a HF harness! If you plan on keeping it obd1 forever you can have the full harness converted by rywire. Or if you plan to possibly go back to obd0...then use your HF harness with some b16 plugs attached like a regular swap. Then contact rywire for the obd0-obd1 dizzy plug and play harness. Your choice but do it right the first time.

Well i hope you are getting the Si harness for plugs only if your car is a HF. I have an hf also and i seen that the Si wiring is slightly different chassis wise.
