Default not staying in 5th gear - Transmission issue

Hi,

My teggy @ 165,000 miles has started to give me a wierd problem. When i shifts it into 5th gear, after a few seconds it automatically shifts back into neutral gear. why is this happening ? what might be the problem ? This started happening since yesterday. its not giving any problems with the other gears but only the 5th gear. its not staying put in 5th gear. when i am holding it in 5th gear its giving a feeling as if its trying to come back in neutral, i can feel the push/pressure.

what might be wrong ? any suggestions ? help ideas appreciated.

Recently i noticed some oil under my transmission . is it due to loss of trans fluid ?

Thanks in advance.

Thats exactly what the problem is. low tranny fluid. find the leak and fix it. meanwhile fill the tranny up with some tranny fluid. before anything mess up.

That was the problem.... low on trans fluid. I emptied the existing trans fluid out which was arould 0.5 quart from the transmission and filled 2.5 quarts with honda manual transmission fluid. its now stayin in 5th gear like it use to.... so thanks guys for the solution... and changing the trans fluid was easy too....saved some money by doing it myself than going to the dealer which would have cost me 80$.

by the way... wat might be the issue with just the 5th gear and transmission fluid low ????????

thanks again guys for all your help.... this forum rocks.
