Cluster Problem
I have a 1999 Civic Si and just recently the cluster has been acting up.
Example:
I will be driving and everything appears to be working just fine and then out of nowhere the cluster will stop working. If this happens at night the lights on the cluster will remain on but the gauges wont work. Then randomly they will work again. It has to be a loose connection somewhere but I have already taken the cluster out and looked at that and also checked all my grounds.
Any ideas?

Only way to tell if its just that cluster and not the wiring is to try another cluster in there.
This type of electrical inconsistency doenst happen with your dash lighting, radio or other lighting, like in cases of a faulty alternator?

Nope. Just the gauges in the cluster. I have been told to check the wiring around the ecu to make sure everything is secure.

That may be the case. Any recent electrical work or wiring, or just about any event that has happened recently before everything started acting up? Take note that water-damage can cause electrical things to act funny, example being a VSS sensor. Ive seen a case or two where water/coolant settled in the plug of the sensor (sits upright like a bowl) causing the speedometer needle to sometimes jump randomly all over the guage, bounce from place to place, read completely wrong, even just stop working.
