How much would it cost to swap the engine?
Im currently driving a 93 prelude, and its only the 2.3l Si engine
i want a Vtec, i looked on ebay and seen 1 vtec for a grand and a couple others for 2 grand
well if i buy the motor, how much would it cost if i pay someone to install it?
im not mechanically inclined enough to swap the engine

just call around to shops in your area. or if you have a good buddy thats good with mechanics then you guys could get a shop manual and do it yourselves.

i chose to go w/ doing it myself. it was a pita for a first timer but the experience was invaluable. you'll never know the prices for sure unless you call around but just to throw out some figures when i was considering having it done at a shop, i got around $1600-2000 quotes.

Yeah either you will get hit for a ton of labor on a swap, or get a cheap friend or learn alot, and you need to do new parts on it as well, such as timing belt and balance belt, oil pump, water pump, belt tensioner, spark plugs and wires. I wish I knew people close who needed this job, but I am 1600 miles from ya!!
Im in the middle of doing the h23 to h22 swap. From all the OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and replacing all the diffrent crap on the new h22, I hit around 2500 last week just in parts and shipping. Its costly, you might as well figure around3 grand if you are going to pay someone.
$1k in labor for a straight swap including timing belt and water pump.....
As you will find, the little parts add up fast. Alot will depend on the condition of the motor you receive.
STAY AWAY FROM EBAY!!!

Definitely possible to do it cheaper...What I like about shops doing it is the availability of little parts that can stop a swap dead in its tracks.
