Bad sputter when starting up
After i drive my civic and shutoff and come back before the car gets completely cold and try to start it up the car sputters like hell and wants to cut out. today i noticed that when it starts up and sputters a puff of white smoke comes out the exhaust.
the car will continue to sputter unless i rev it out. All the while it is sputtering it is smoking white but when it clears up it goes away.
if i drive the car while it sputters it will flat spot and then it will just pick up and shoot off (all at constant throttle). 3 weeks bad i blew my head gasket, the car mainly started sputtering on start up after that. I was thinking maybe the head gasket was gone again so i did a compression test and the car had consistant numbers on all 4 cylinders.
Need suggestions as soon as possible. It is starting to **** me off and i think it is hurting the motor.
P.S
before i put the JDM B18c in my car and i had the D15b vtec it would flat spot but it would never sputter on start up.
The B18C motor has P30 pistons, a slightly milled head. new rings, bearings and all.

its possible to have a blown or leaking head gasket and still get a good compression reading. have you tried a cooling system pressure test or a leak down test?

This will clean the inside of your engine really good.
Since you don't live in America you still might be able to find that product but if you can't get your hands on it then I recommend Half a quart of ATF to be added in your oil. Just do this 1 week before you change your oil and let the ATF clean your engine internally a bit to loosen the sludge if you have any.
Sometimes it could be sticky valves and that ATF can really help as it's an excellent engine detergent.

white smoke is normally from running lean or burning coolant, blueish white is burning oil, soot like black is a very rich mixture. if your not burning coolant, your running realy lean. pull the plugs and take a realy close picture and post it. theyre probaly coated with a grayish white powder from running lean
your head gasket might not be the problem. your head could be warped near one of the water jackets, or you could have a crack in your block some where. I would do a leak down test. if thats good check your compression again cause it almost sounds like the rings or ringlands might be screwed, but if they were a leakdown or compression test would show it. if you do a compression and one cylinder is low ad a teaspoon of oil to the cylinder through the sparkplug hole and test it again...if the compression rises then that means your rings / ringlands are screwed...if there is no difference then that means the lost compression is lost through the head / valves.
I found out what it was. My head gasket was gone again.
Apparently, The guy who had changed took it upon himself to try taking a layer off the gasket. however when he removed the little copper rivet things that hold the layers together he didnt put them back on correctly so the 2 remaining layers werent seated correctly and oil was spraying from between the head and block so he then removed the head and tried putting the layer back in the gasket. he didnt clean the "2 layer" gasket so there was still oil between the layers and added the removed layer and tried reinserting the rivet things.
I found out all of thing when i removed the head on Friday. The gasket i removed DIDNT have in any of the little rivet things and the gasket layers were floating on each other with oil and water between each.
The cylinders had water in each (not much). so That was my problem. A screwed up gasket, causing water to get in to the cylinder.
I got the head checked and it was level. so i bought a new gasket, kept the 3 layers and installed it. bolted back up and started and the care is fine. no more smoke no more sputter
