Default help with h22 swapped ek hatch

I am verry sorry if this is in the wrong section...

I have a 96 ek hatch, with a h22a1, obd2-1 jumper harness
I have it on a p13, but I dont have a knock sensor so I get no vtec.
I also have a p30 that was chipped with crome.
I recently had a friend re-burn the chip to disable the knock sensor, vtec temp sensor, and other things. and I still have no vtec.
the wire from the vtec selenoid, and another vtec wire, are wired right into the obd1 side of the harness. I have checked the wiring and everything seems to be the way it should.
and I got nothing. the PO did all the wiring and the swap, he said the only time he had vtec working was when the car was on a chipped p13, but I thought you couldnt chip p13s.......
I I should just be able to install a knock sensor and be good to run that p13 right?

I am new to all this stuff.

thanks

I dont think not having a knock sensor would take out the V-tec. Also P13 are able to be chipped if you run it through a socket.

if the ecu is looking for a knock sensor and it is not present, vtec will NOTwork.

as far as your situation goes, yes if u install the sensor and all other provisions are working, then it will run the way its intended to.

No knock sensor = No VTEC

I bought a phearable chip for my p30 to run the h22,
and I still get no vtec....

what could be keeping me from engaging vtec?
the chip in the ecu doesnt need a knock sensor, and isnt throwing any codes.
could it be the vss? or what

I am boggled.......

If the previous owner did the wiring, check it. It could be done wrong, or it could be grounding out on the chassis somewhere. Never trust anyone else's wiring unless it's working.
