The intake probably didnt have any gains overall, but might have changed up the powerband a little bit.

If you just want a fun N/A daily, than bolt-ons and a b16 tranny will do fine. If you actually want to race anything besides hondas, youre going to need a turbo.

Thats not all that high really. If it does good in a compression/leakdown test than Id say youre good to go. Check out the FI forum. It even has a thread devoted to LS turbo setups.

Not much just a high school student wit a job at the mall getting paid $7.50. Heres the mods im planning: skunk2 intake manifold, skunk2 68mm throttle body, DC sports 4-1 headers, new fans, and for the external and suspension: wing, front lower strut bar, rear lower strut bar, lowering springs, new shocks <--Are these good enough to be pulling around 200HP?

pffft with those mods nowhere near 200hp. Your LS (assuming its in good condition) should make somewhere between 120-125whp stock. With those mods you might get to 130whp.

The skunk2 intake manifold, skunk2 68mm throttle body. Will get you all of nothing without a tune.
And wile the 4-1 header does make more power than the 4-2-1,
it only does so for about 200 of the about 7000 RPM you have to work with.

there was a thread i think titled 4-1 vs. 4-2-1 that explained the differences. It really depends on your definition of power. the 4-2-1 will make more torque while the 4-1 makes more high end hp over stock. However, the torque gains of a 4-2-1 are much larger than the hp gains of a 4-1. Also there is a torque drop with a 4-1. From my research a 4-1 is for high end hp and more of a race aplication. But a 4-2-1 for a DD that you want to be quicker

So would you go with a 4-1 or a 4-2-1? I just want more hp and more power overall.that article made my head hurt.

That Hytech replica header seems to make some impressive numbers thats for sale in the sponsor section. Youre going to have to wait for your trial to expire though.

It would depend on what you think "power" is. read and understand the article, it will definatly help you understand why the motor is making power. It's important to know if you want to make more. 4-1 race application, if you want to move the power cure up on rpms. 4-2-1 street/dd application, more bang for your buck, while the peak hp isn't affected much the torque is increase dramaticaly. my 2 cents

Ok so i read the article again. Didnt make any sense. So the 4 2 1 header is more torque but less hp and 4-1 header is more hp and less torque. Which is the best if i want the best explosion for a longer time? cuz the 421 header is like 10 bucks cheaper than the 4-1 on modacar.com. Btw, my budget is between 300-350,

i wouldnt waste money on a ls motor, unless your going ls/v or turbo. if i were you i would just save up for a while and do some research. what are you planning on doing with it?? just a quicker dd or like auto-x or drag racing or what?

An LS can be fun. Id say just leave your car the way it is right now and save for a turbo.

In this order:

New IM
Good Header
Cat back exhaust

*If you want to spend more.
Larger TB
b16 tranny
Hondata S100 with a good tune

Anthing more will require engine work and $$$$$$$$$$$$$

You may want to also work on the suspension. Good luck!

if it wasn't stated yet there's no point to get a 4-1 header because those are good for high end and we should all know that ls's kinda lack in that department. ls's are fine for a daily and you're still in high school you got plenty time to build up. just remember to make the right choices and don't get all this stuff for n/a and then decide you want to go turbo. or something like that.

goodluck

why in the hell would you get a new intake manifold as your first mod? then say to get a TB if you want to spend more? there's no sense putting on an aftermarket IM without a port matched TB

noob on noob posting FTW
