the worst thing just happend to me :(
my brother took the civic on friday and as he was driving he heard a sound like something was stuck in the flywheel. he pulled over and saw that the pulley was loose, so he Tightened it as much as he could by hand. he drove it to a nearby parking lot and came home and told me what happend. he said we should get new belts and a new pulley. i went their with my brother with those things. when we got their and took the pulley off( it was hard to take the bolt off because the boly cross threaded in the crank) when we took the pulley off we saw that the bracket where the little key went got all messed up. a small peice fell off so now i need a new crank. why would the pulley come loose all of a sudden? i have been driving on the new motor for months. is their any way to fix it without taking the motor out?
i need help bad.

if the slot is messed up then you need to replace the crank. anyways i would replace it. anything you do to it now will throw off the balance. next time use thread lock and the bolt wont come loose

it could have just jarred loose or got looser and looser everyday, then just fell out by hitting a bump in the road or something. my motor mount bolts did that once!!
