Default Gauge placement

I am thinking of adding a couple of gauges to my car. Looking at 2 1/16 inch gauges. Where have you guys put your gauges. I am trying to steer clear of a gauge pod on the pillar.

Thanks for the input.

There have been some nice pictures of alternate gauge placement....I have seen in the center console, in the dash cluster, on the door....look in the huge thread about pictures of your ride....somewhere around page 11 or 12ish there is a nice one with it in the cener console

i like that setup as well. and will probably do something similiar to that eventually.

why don;t you want to go with the pillar guage pod? want the sleeper look?

I definitely like that set up. Iam looking for something a little more simplistic though. I do won't to keep the sleeper look and I don't particularly like the pillar pods.

i have an 88 crx dash and i think you could mount guages on top on the dash right above the center vents.

not sure if you think that would spoil the sleeper look.

also, you could remove your center vents, block up the airway and put some guages in there.

I happen to have an 88 CRX dash as well . I have considered that as well. I am thinking of trying to fabricate something under the radio. Just looking for ideas, as always.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I placed my gauges 'in' the dash on the passenger side (above the glove box).

for a while i had my climate controls removed, and i ran two guages mounted in abs plastic in that spot. i would rather just put them in front of the shifter, i already had a piece made that would put a super afc in there, but i sold the afc. basically i cut away at the front of radio pocket, underneath the equalizer pocket. i pulled out the ashtray, grinded it back the thickness of the abs, and cut the abs to fit tight against the center console. it would have come out really nice.

i was thinking about pulling the little storage space under the radio and the ashtray as well. i was going to mount some gauges there, but thought it might be too low visiually. what i might do is move the climate control and radio down and put the gauges between the climate control and the center vents.

but i probably won't do any of it. lol!
