Lowering my DA even more. Need some advice, and a photoshop request!
So i've come to the conclusion that I really need to drop my DA even more.
I'm currently sitting on Tokico Illuminas with Eibach Prokit springs. Which equal a 1 inch drop. Lame.
So I'm trying to figure out what to get. I think i'd be fine with just getting shorter lowering springs, but I have a lot of people telling me to get coilovers. I'm not trying to be SLAMMED because this is my DD, but I do want to be much lower.
Heres the car in its current state:

I'm thinking Tein S-Techs or H-Techs which say they drop the car 2.0" to 2.5", you guys think that'll be enough?
Also, if anyone could Photoshop my car lower, that'd be great.
Thanks!

Nah, It definately needs to be slammed more.
Front is a 3 finger gap, the rear is a 2 (only because I had a full size spare in there at the time of the picture)
Thanks for the chop, I think that looks A LOT better...

just buy some coil overs..... also you should invest in sme different wheels and some one piece headlights....
See I dont know if I need coils though. There 300+ and I can get springs for like 150...
One Peices are in the future for sure.
I love my Old Skool Volks, so their staying... I just need to get a new center cap for that one missing one

The earlier double wishbone chassis (DA, EF) had very limited shock travel.
You will most likely bumpstop a lot unless you have super stiff springs. The other option is to get fully adjustable coilovers so you can adjust the bottom perch without touching the spring location.
That being said, the Teins may make the car bumpstop on larger bumps or on corners. Apparently, a lot of the tein springs are too low, too soft.
If you buy Ground Controls (around $300), you're spending the money ONE TIME. They ride great, and have really good spring rates for american roads.
If you find out that your Teins are too low, too soft ....you just spent $150, and will most likely have to spend atleast another $100-150 to replace the springs. Or just go back to steam rollin' on the eibachs.
Just to save the headache, maybe it would be better to just go with a quality sleeve type coilover like Ground Control? Adjustable ride height FTW. You can decide how low is practical for you.

in all honesty ive never been in a car that road as good as my eibach springs do to them being a progressive rate spring, with that said i would say get koni yellows and put them on their lowest perch
its either that or go with a good full coilover thats dampening etc is matched with the springs that come on them

Well it's only $150 more than you have. Save up $150. Sell some blood or some semen. You're wasting the latter 7 times a day anyway.

Dude 2" drop is what I have in my DA and I love it. Its a little to low for Maine roads, but It still rides nice. I had some rice wheels they were 17's and they more than filled out the wheel well. I would def. suggest some drop springs with some nice struts. GL
get ground control coilover sleeves to fit the tokico's, i have tokico illunmia's and gc's on my dc2 and i ******* love it.
plus i only paid like $250 for my coilover sleeves brand new from prostreetonline.com and you can adjust from .5-3.5"

Blowing your shocks may or may not be more likely if you have springs rather than coilovers. It depends on a lot of other things. However, for a GENERAL RULE, coilovers will blow your stock dampers FASTER than springs.

Yes, the GC sleeves will go well with tokicos. They are progressive, and they have moderate spring rates.
However, the DC has 1000X better suspension geometry and chassis design. The DC will ride better if all else is the same in pretty much every case.

i say get the ground controls. then you'll be on the same set up as me. and i'm loving it. believe me if you were to get another set of springs you'll want to go lower. and then there's going to be a day that you want to go higher.... with coilovers you can.
from what i heard teins are soft. the rear spring rates are lower than stock. your backend will sag with a full tank of gas.

stick with what you got. its the best damn setup. I had the exact same setup on my 92 gsr. you're wheels are whats making the gap look bad. You might like them, but they look shitty.. sorry no offense, and they are making you're car look high and not good.
Here are 2 pictures of my car with rota slipstreams and rota gt3s with tokico illumina and eibach prokit.
*** if you wanna go lower, go eibach sportline.

Your car looks just as high as mine, I don't think it has anything to do with the wheels, I think its the fact that Pro-Kits make a 1 inch drop. I really don't think its the wheels so much as the springs.
See, in my opinion, if you were about an inch lower, your car would look A LOT better. Same with my car...

Thats what I was worried about. I would rather be a little higher and have more reliability in my struts.
So heres the deal, if I get Coils, i'm getting GCs for sure.
What should I get if I decided to go with springs?

Y do u "NEED" to be slammed more... it looks fine to me... do you autocross/drag???
plus ur just going to throwing more money away.. save your money and buy a better car... if this is your daily, why would you want to have an uncomfortable ride? and btw $300 aint bad for a set of "coils", my springs were almost $300...
My advice... save your money, drive what you have and be happy, you dont need to do anything else to your car... lets be honest, its slow and unless you put a turbo on it, it will continue to be slow, and all that stuff you buy for it will only make u mad when u try and sell it and u dont get dick for it...

Ya you dont want to blow your shocks. Tokico only warranties them for a certain drop. Which is the Prokit or maybe sportline. But I know if its been lowered more than 2 inches, the warranty is no good. I've had mine for a 2.5 years, rides great. I like not hitting and scraping the **** out of my undercarriage. It handled great and rode great. Sure it didn't look slammed and could have looked a lot better..
But ask yourself this, what is more important, FORM or FUNCTION? I went with function. I had my car setup so damn good it felt amazing to drive.
The only difference, when I had the rota slipstreams on, since they were black, it kinda hid the gap a little. didnt make it so noticeable.
But even with Ground Control's they are great because they use Eibach Springs, but just depends how low you wanna go. If you wanna get coil overs, spend the money and get ground controls, BUT also get ground control TOP HATS. Allows your shocks more travel so they wont bottom out.
