Don't say no when you don't know.
You *could* fab up your own system to do it, maybe in conjunction with when you hit the button to unlock the car, using a relay and some timing circuits, along with a 12v output relay for ignition, I think it could be done.
It would definitely be easier to do if you just go to best buy and get a kit installed though.

yes you are able to.... the dei systems will have a factory alarm disarm wire on them. just make sure that you hook this up. it will disarm the alarm when you remote start it....

dei is just a company that makes alarms. they are most commonly known for the viper alarm systems. they will all have the factory alrm bypass setup built into them. what year is your car and is it a manual?...if it is a manual, you are probably going to have a hard time finding someone to bypass the clutch system since we are not supposed to do it. however, it can be done. if it is new enough, you may have a chip in your key and if so, you will need a spare key as well as a 50 dollar bypass. i know that at best buy, the basic remote start with keyless entry is about 200 installed and then you may need that bypass.

5th gen preludes have a factory immobilizer you won't be able to start the car without the key in the ignition. To get around this you can get a bypass module to hook up to the immobilizer. You will need an extra key for this to work. Basically the key stays in that module hidden under the dash of the car somewhere. This also make the immobilizer useless once you do that. Thus making it easier for someone to steal the car. Just something to think about.

hey man i really dont understand what you just stated. most cars dont start without a key in the ignition. isnt thats what the purpose. no key. no start.
and... if the immolbolizer thing was true, why did my insurance told me that the prelude is one of the highest rated cars to be stolen. so the immobilizer is useless to begin with since all these preludes are being stolen

i find that hard to believe. first of all, there aren't that many preludes around to steal, and even then, with the immobilizer it would make things very difficult without the right key. i mean, it's very possible, but not probable.
maybe they meant older preludes (4th gen and older).

i see what your saying about the immobilizer not allowing a remote start unit to start a 5th gen. because as you know a simply having a key that fits is not good enough to start a 5th gen, you need the chipped key programed to match that immobilizer unit. so the way i see it you would need to remove the whole immobilizer system to allow a remote start system to work. will it make the car easier to steal, yes. because it has one less security system protecting it, but it wont make it a easy car to steal, it will just be like most other cars out there. and no preludes are not one of the most stolen cars.

well if your not using the stock honda key somebody must have already removed or bypassed the immobilizer system on your car.

Then your Key has a Chip inside it, that chip sends a signal back to the ECU which allows the car to start. If you try and start the car with a key that doesn't have that chip the ECU kills the Fire and Fuel so the car won't start. The only way someone could steal a 5th gen lude is A. Bring their own ECU with a Immobilizer bypassed. Or B. Pull it on a flat bed.

I have a p28 ecu running my car, so i put a switch on my injector resistor box, as well as an ignition start button to help deter theft. It would take a thief hours to figure out how to steal my car without pulling it away....even if i gave them the key!

so youre saying that if i were to go to home depot and make a copy of my key it wouldnt work?
i will try this today. i will go to home depot make a copy and if my car does start with a copy key then i know their is no chip inside

That's absolutely what is NOT going to happen, unless your immobilizer has already been disabled/removed. If you have the factory Honda key, I'd bet six left nuts that if you cut it open it has a tiny japanese chip in it that says, "SEE, HE TOLD YOU SO."
you will be able to open the car door, but the car WILL NOT START. it will put the switch in the on position, but the motor will just turn over and it would just be a waste of battery power to attempt it. But learn for yourself.
In my GF's grand am, if you try to start it with the wrong key the immobilizer system will DISABLE the car completely, and then even the chipped key won't start the car. then you have to blink your left eye seven times, do a back flip, fart twice, and hold your right leg behind your head on the 3rd tuesday in march on an odd year to get the bitch to start back up.
Have fun!

yes you will need an imobilizer bypass. dei makes one and the model is a 556uw. it is about 50 dollars. you will need this in order to bypass the immobilizer. and a key that is programmed. most people go to the dealer to get this key. sometimes you can get a local locksmith company that cuts keys to do it but are better off going to the dealer. a valet key will also work.

HAHA that **** made me laugh my *** off at work. I love it when people come here for help then tell people they are wrong when we try to help. Dude I've ripped out and replaced at least 3 immobilizer Systems in 5th gen Preludes. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about 80% of time every time.
