Default civic cupholders q

hey guys is it possible to put the 99-2000 civic ex cup holders into a 96 civic? i know there climate control console is a little bit different. I like the storage bin that goes into the single din on the bottom.
this is the guy i want to put in my 96 civic cuz the infamous latch broke and friends have spilled soda over the years so its all sticky n ****

Yes, it is a direct changeover. The cupholder/din assemblies are interchangeable. They use the same outer console piece (gray shift boot console).

I'm not sure if your car happened to have it, but the '96-'98 cupholders also had an available attached din hole like the one in the pic. The '96-'98 cupholders are more sought after than the '99-'00 ones though because you can remove the din and put a radio in there instead. With the '99-'00s it's just one piece.

Yah, I also agree, a nice set of 96-98 cupholders are better off for the simple fact its not just a one piece set. Allows for numerous amounts of goodies down there including the radio etc. I just moved my radio down and it works marvelous.

i used to have my radio in the lower din it was nice for security cuz it was harder to see then it got stolen and i got an alarm and started taking my face plate off, no more problems.

Also true, I think radio face should be pulled everytime you get out, but who doesn't like to be lazy now a days? My '90 accord got stolen for the stereo and thats it, tis just flash imho... I just prefer the block off plate up top, though im going to order a stock stereo for keyless and so i can finally have my dome light back

very nice actually, not too spendy either, I was going to do some simple wiring adjusments in my EX until i pulled the unit from the previous owner and the guy had spliced the stock harness three ways, one for stock, one full of butt-splicers, and one for what appeared to be a german setup, most likely for a blaupunkt, though i dunno why they'd do that.... All in all, too much work and now my cd player has no memory, so it resets the cd/clock/settings over everytime car shuts off... anyways, now that i've strewn off topic, the cupholders imho are just as well out of a 96-98 just because they have that 2 piece setup. ^^ Eran up there has a grand stock cd setup, you should ask him for a quick pic, that would be a cool way to go to.
