Default Question About RSX 02-04 potential Owner :)

I'm probably buying 04 RSX type-s tomorrow (trading in my 04 RX-8 (10-12MPG))
anyways
I like the car, but I was wondering if there is a way i can change the bumpers and head and taillights.
I like the 05-06 headlight and taillights
I don't like the curves on the old ones.
so can i buy and replace the new with the old ?
would if fit ?

also besides that what other changes they've made between 02-04 and 05-06
I know about the 9HP increase but looks like thats about it ?
or im wrong?

P.S.
btw what is your MPG ? on this one?
its gotta be better than the RX8 right !?!?!

yes, you can fit the 05-06 headlight and taillight onto your 02-04

the front/rear bumpers needs to be swapped as well, plenty of people have done this already

there's a lot of differences between the 02-04 to 05-06, mostly cosmetics (seats, gauges....)

the final drive is slightly different as well (improved i guess)
i think i get about 24mpg
yes, much better than the rx-8 haha

Search on clubrsx.com, they have a few DIY 02-04 conversion to 05-06. I would find you the links to the DIY but I'm a little lazy right now lol.

If you're going to convert the front at least change the back... it looks odd with the front changed and the back not. I'm going 05-06 conversion with JDM tail lights (J-D-M YOOOOO!) and change color to NHBP from ABP

I average about 30mpg with mixed highway and city driving. With all city driving I get about 26-28mpg. I have on occasion gotten up to 33mpg. It all depends on how spirited of a driver I feel like being.

i have a heavy *** foot too, thats why i cant get a rear wheel drive car here in seattle. but anyways, still get at least 20 mpg on local and 25-30 mpg on highway

conversion is legit - easy
05 seats are a million times better
i dont even know that the gauges were different but i have an 05

if ur doing a convo front front and rear y not just get the 05+ ?? its easier to hit 200whp with the 05+ due to little bit of difference in the engine. all depends on what your goals are. imo the 05+ have a nicer cluster, more comfortable seats the 02-04 feels like sh*t... if u dont like the spoiler on the 05+ decklid and want to change it i think its atleast 6 or some holes u have to fill or swap with someone...

because not everyone wants an 05-06. i actually prefer the 02-04 motor with some OEM mods i can perform the same as an 05-06. **** just get the 05-06 cams and 05-06 exhaust and i basicly have an 05-06 minus the tranny. Also if you are taking out your seats and replacing them with others, then there is no point in getting 05-06 for the nicer seats. It's all on how you look at things and are willing to put the money into your vehicle, not because the other one is better.

im not saying that the 05+ are better hell i drive a 03 myself. if you want to do OEM mods on ur 02-04 motor to perform like a 05-06 thats fine with me. is it worth all the trouble when the 05-06 isnt that much more?

thanks for the answers.
I got it today
04 rsx type-s
it feels really nice
it's not as fast as the rx8 but for the gas milage that it gets I don't care.
here is a picture of it...

and also if I get air intake (AEM K&N ..) would I get better gas milage ?

also...
where can I buy the JDM red emblems for the car?
where is the cheapest place to buy them ?

you have to understand I'm new owner, i will ask a lot of stupid questions !

Good luck with the new car. As far as I am concerned look for anywhere between 25-30 MPG City and 33 MPG Hwy. Love the color wish I would have got something besides black. (I have to wash it AT LEAST once a week!)

yes you would get better gas mileage with an intake.

your quest and searching begins with google. jdmland.com is agood start.. just use the search function on the left and type in DC5 and everything will pop up. if you're just lookin for the emblems type in DC5 emblems or emblem and that'll pull up.

its not faster or more agile than the mazda, but GOD it's nice !
I like the premium sound system.. the noice of Vtec.. its just better..
now i need to get type-r spoiler and I'll be good to go.
btw do you think carbon fiber spoiler will be good on silver color ?
