Default Rear Sag

Ok so i have a 94 ex, and the back end is starting to sag really badly. Like it has a 2 finger gap between tire and fender. Whereas the front is about 5.5. So the whole car looks like it is pulling a wheelie or something. Is there any way to fix this? Oh and i forgot to mention i have a sub box in the trunk. Could this be causing this? Or is the suspension just worn out? And the car has 157k on it. Original shocks and springs. And could getting new shocks help this? Or does it have to do with the springs?

I have the same problem. It was fine when I first got the car, but then I put in 2 12" subs and a box and now it sags as well. So thats most likely causing it.

As to how to fix it, I'm not sure but I'm gonna keep on eye on this thread so I can figure out how to fix it too.

A sub is not going to sag that badly.

Replace the suspension.

yeah its the rear shocks like the person before me said replace all of them... i hope you wont be cheap and just buy the backs. But a sub box shouldnt matter. I have two spares in my trunk and a bunch of tools mines sits up perfectly fine.

So it is for sure the rear shocks that i need to replace? And what kind would u guys recomend i get if im keeping stock ride height? Or what would u suggest if i decided to lower the car? Especially to handle the extra load in the trunk?

wait, so when did shocks start holding up the cars weight? If it is sagging, you probably need new rear springs as that is what holds the cars weight. The shocks only control the compression rate of the strut, it has nothing to do with why the car is sagging. look into getting some new springs if nothing else works.

Oh and by the way, if you need new springs or shocks, pretty much any local auto parts place should cary them in stock (Advance, Autozone etc.). Also since i used to work at Advance Auto Parts, i know for sure they can order eibach spring kits usually in about a day- which would be your option for lowering the car. I think they ran about $200 or less for the accord- not bad for good springs. Also, having the subs in your trunk won't be a problem. Just get new springs and it will look like new. For the shocks a good direct replacement would be the ones made by Monroe (Sensa-Trac models are even better), or a better replacement are ones made by KYB. Just keep in mind your shocks will not affect why your car is sagging- thats the responsibility of the springs. Better yet just buy all new struts (springs and shocks)- that will simplify the job a little if you can pay a little more.

If that spare is 4x114, aka fits your accord, chances are that it's not going to fit someone else's car. New shocks and springs in the rear is what I'd recommend. Someone said just the springs, but chances are if your springs are worn out the shocks are gone too. When the springs sag, it puts unnecessary load on the shocks and wears them out very quickly. Just replace the rear set, there's no reason to replace them all the way around if the front is still handling fine and the stance is unaffected. Also, stop taking fat chicks in the back seat

ha, the same thing has happened to me as well. I tow a jet ski and a motorcycle trailer occasionally though, so I attributed mine to this setup. I have a 94 Accord with 159k miles, and I measured my clearance and I have the same 2 finger gap in the rear and 5.5 finger gap in the front.

I was considering to just lower the front and keep the stock sagging in the rear. Would this cause any adverse issues with the car? Why cant I just keep the sagging springs in the rear as my 'lowering springs'?

Yea i was gonna ask that too. Can i leave the rear springs and shocks sagging and just lower the front? Since i want to lower the car anyways? Or will this just cause me problems?
