I don't see any purpose in paying a premium for these over an OEM NSK, Koyo, NTN, etc. bearing.

List price for a 44300-SB2-966 bearing (fits '91 Civic Si) is $98.57.

The equivalent King Motorsports "Super" bearing is $199.

The key is the anti-friction coating. I asked Clayton (Ausmith) about these when he still worked for King. Seems they starting experimenting with these coatings on the Mugen/King Motorsports RSX race car a couple of years ago and saw a lot less wear/failure after doing so. Mike (Eleanor) had King coat his entire transmission internals with this coating and said it was ridiculous smooth. Here's a link to pics https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2131470

im not really too concerned what there made with or of anymore... that price is way too high i dont care if they put jesus's *** shot in there... they could gold plate the bearing and its still not worth 200$ each.... maybe 200 for both... i can buy 4 wheel bearings for cheaper than 2 of those.... so you tell me what is soooooo "SUPER" about them...

no gimmicks.

They obviously don't appeal to your type of crowd. The cheap, skeptical kind who can always find a better deal somewhere else. They are not making any outrageous claims about them, more beneficial toward road race cars that are hard on bearings anyways. But i'm sure you would'nt understand that either.

Most guys racing '88-91 CRXen and Civics, particularly in ITA and H4, are replacing bearings frequently at a set interval regardless of whether they have developed play or not, just as preventative maintenance. The larger problem there is the fact that the front hubs are a known weak point - they crack and break at the "neck," resulting in the wheel falling off the car, potentially at very high speed. Everything up there gets cooked pretty well due to the lack of brake mass and the fairly high speeds and grip levels attained by a competitive ITA car; while the bearings may or may not be wearing out, the hubs definitely have to be replaced every so often just as a precaution.

Later Civics, and any cars that are allowed brake upgrades in their class ruleset, do not have this problem because the hub is different.

The original poster does not necessarily have to be cheap or skeptical to not see a need for the King modified bearings. I would see these as being a pointless waste of money for a daily-driven street car, and I'm not cheap in the least.

for the price they charge that wheel bearing better last TWICE as long as a stock one, which i doubt it does.

As targa250R said the only car that really has an issue with the hub/bearing is the early civic/crx. The rest of the hondas don't have that issue really

My type of crowd? wow... we must have met and i didnt know.

cheap... suree buddy!! id love to show u some receipts of my build. Your house up there in the sticks probably isnt worht what my car is.

skeptical... well hmmmmmm... shouldnt we all be when spending hard earned money?

find a better deal somehwhere else... well considering im a honda mechanic, and get employee prices... i dont need to go somewhere else. i just go to work. it doesnt take honda tech to know its a waste of money to spend 400$ on wheel bearings...

and last of all.... who the expletive are you? the king motorsports representitive? post useful information to make me look stupid.. dont just post wasteless things you know nothing about..

take a note from targa250R....FACTS and OPINION all at once!!

King motorsports does sell good stuff... pricey, but very nice.. im not knocking kingmotorsports... im knocking 400$ wheel bearings

I'll take a new honda OE bearing repacked with Mobil 1 grease over that King Bearing most anyday. Bearings are a consumable, brake pads, rotors, brake lines, they should be replaced each season if not thoroughly checked.
