Im intetersted in getting some koni yellows for my EK. Its already dropped on some teins, but I wana lower it more. From my understanding, the regular yellows have 3 places where you can put the spring seats. On the lowest setting how much lower will my car sit?
The multiple circlip grooves in the Koni 8041-Sport damper body are not intended to be used with aftermarket lowering springs. The circlips should be left in the center groove when used with lowering springs.
Tein S.Tech springs are already too soft for the amount they lower the vehicle. Reducing compression travel even further without upping the spring rates will result in the suspension running into the bump-stops constantly, causing a harsh ride and erratic handling.
In other words, buying Konis (or any other off-the-shelf dampers with a stock body length) for this purpose will be a waste of your money.

so i gotta get stiffer springs to run konis properly? Even if i leave the circlips in themiddle with the s techs, it will still expletive up my handling and ride?

No - only if you intend to run the circlips in a position lower than the stock perch height.

No, it will not pose any more problems than running the S.Techs on any other stock-length damper. It may cause additional problems if you run the circlip lower than the default position.

Well i while back. i bougth my koni's i had HR springs put them togher and the tires in front rub the fender. so i set to the upper grove and still rubing in front. so i went to GC coilovers. but HR springs lower the car about 2 to 2.5" best thing i think is to get coils. so you go as low as you want.

Each groove is 1" apart. In other words, you'll have an extra inch lowered if you set your springs on lowest groove. But............

my main reason for getting koni yellows, or possible tokco illuminas, is for the handling improvement. Say I put the shocks on the stiffest settings, what will the effect be with the soft S techs. Should I strongly consider getting some stiffer springs?

That's not what your original post suggests:

So are you looking to lower the car further, or improve the handling? If the latter, to what degree are you looking to improve it? What is the car used for?

You'd be using the rebound force adjustment as a bit of a band-aid solution to the body roll allowed by the soft springs. Whether you should consider stiffer springs or not depends on what your goals are for the car's suspension setup.

The Koni shocks for Civics and Integras have 2 slots in the front: stock and 1" lower. The rear shocks have 3 slots: stock, 5/8" lower and 5/8" higher.
Back when I first got my Koni shocks I put H&R Sport springs on them. Perches were at stock height all around. Following H&R's asinine bumpstop directions, I left the bumpstops intact without cutting them. Front looked good with maybe 1-finger gap or less, but the rear had like 2-finger gap.
So I lowered the rear spring perch to the lower setting and it looked pretty good. However after a year or 18 months the bumpstops (still full height) had turned to dust from hitting them all the time.
So I installed new bumpstops, cut them in half, and never had a problem with the H&R Sports on the lower perch setting in back. They were still intact and in good shape when I removed the springs to install GC coilovers.
