Im looking for suggestions on what i should do with a yamaha r1 powerplant that was given to me.
My best bud wrecked his bike and made it out unscratched but he let me have his entire engine tranny setup with radiator and all electrical equipment for free....
My fabrication skills are very good... literally almost anything can be suggested...
Ive always wanted to have a motorcycle but there is a whole bunch of things that i would like to build as well and this would be perfect for several of those applications.....
Some of my current thoughts are...
A small offroad vehicle with a hell of a lot of power....
a miniture f1 car ... not as fast as the real thing but would still be incredibly fun to drive.
I would loooove to build some sort of homemade helicopter or aircraft... i would prefer the aircraft but the verticle take off on the helicopter makes it much more practical for me as i wont be flying legally. but i worry about issues like the engines ability to breathe at high altitude.... but then a turbo might solve that issue to keep me running optimally.
but im open to any suggestions.... anyone see anything super cool or fun that uses a motorcycle engine....
keep in mind that this is a 1000cc engine so power isnt an issue and more likely to be a liability so im not gona make a go kart with a 1000cc engine hahahah....
small tire footpring+ high power to weight ratio+ me + wall = splat.
but yeah im really excited to be granted such a great opportunity to build something for myself that will be fun.
so any suggestions out there on what to build?

I like how you think a 1000cc go-kart is dangerous but a homemade helicopter or airplane is not.

I'm gonna build me a homebuilt plane one day for sure. That'll be the only way I'll ever actually accumulate hours. I've put thousands towards getting my pilots license and I haven't flown in a year.

hahaha this made me laugh.... yeah it doesnt make sense... but i actually feel safer in the sky...
Im an ex marine and I was fortunate enough to be selected for the airborne program... so free falling isnt a fear of mine...
my whole idea of the helicopter was to build a one man copter that i can actually remote control cause i wanted to be able to fly it consistently for several days to know that its safe for me to get on and do the same.

this is true.... if i make this project too expensive it will be extended over a longer period of time and be less likely to be finished for whatever reason.
yeah im gona start sketching some designs for an offroad buggy...
Im thinking of a wide stance between the wheels with a very flexible suspension so i can travel through almost any terrain...
it wouldnt be hard or expensive to make so im thinking of going with that....
thanks for your suggestions guys... anyone else got anymore?

Here is a safe trike that the gent has put over 100,000 miles on:

I have thought about fabing up a "Shrike" after I retire...

Put it in an original Mini Cooper.
Z Cars
and for videos:
Hyabusa Power
It's a Hyabusa motor here but you get the idea.

Mini Formula car for sure. We run one with a restricted 600cc engine and do 0-60 in 3.4s! http://www.vtmotorsports.com
