Default upper control arm how to get ball joint to pop in

I put in new control arms and on one side the ball joint didn't pop in right. How do I get it to pop in? I torqued the nut to 40 lb/ft, and still nothing. They are skunk2. Does it have to do with the adjustable screws on top?

Thanks

I took out the little screws and it seems that the ball joint is in fine. After putting everything back in really tight, my steering is crooked now. I hope I just need an alignment.

I can't get pics now because it is dark here. Do you think my steering wheel is crooked because I need an alignment? Everything is tight.

Make sure you installed the upper control arms on the correct side.

The ball joint stud should fit easily through the hole in the top of the knuckle, and then when you tighten the nut it should pull it in the rest of the way to properly seat the conical surface on the ball joint stud with the matching conical surface of the hole in the knuckle.

Steering should not be affected unless you disconnected or adjusted the outer tie rods, or unless you installed the upper control arms on the wrong side. But even then it shouldn't affect steering wheel angle by much.

And post some pics since it's light now.

I actually went and got an alignment today and everything is fine. I had them check everything to make sure it was ok. After the alignment everything feels great. I made sure the ball joint was in there snug yesterday by detaching it from the control arm and moving it around. I guess it just seemed off before because of bad alignment, or maybe it moved in better when I tightened the nut yesterday. I did make sure they were on the right side. That's a good point though, I double checked because I thought that might be the problem.
Thanks for your help
