Car only starts when WET, HELP!
I have a 93 hatch, with a 95 b18 in it. My problem right now is it wont start anymore unless i pour water down around the back of the tranny/pump, in around that area..what the hell is going on? my fuses are good, my main relay is brand new. witht he soak of a hose she starts right up..
yes but which ground is the question. ive already cleaned the one on the thermostat housing..what other ones are down there.
I spray water around the area where the tranny ground is. that back portion of the engine..around the fuel pump etc..with a second it starts.

1.) the transmission ground isn't at the back of the engine, it's on the far passenger side. It goes from the frame rail to the transmission bellhousing.
2.) the fuel pump isn't in the engine bay. Did you mean fuel filter?
3.) the only reason your car would start after doing this is conductivity. There's a bad ground or fuse or plug or relay or terminal somewhere that's not getting enough of a connection without water bridging the gap. It's strange, though, that the car will keep going after it starts - once it's warm and dry, that is.
What does it do exactly when you turn the key and it doesn't fire up? Does it crank and not fire, does it click, does the fuel pump prime and make noise, do the interior lights come on, does a small demon crawl out of your vent and **** on your pants? Help us narrow it down and we can tell you what's going on.

when its dry. it urn the key..and all ti does is keep turning over. once i wet the engine i then hear the pump prime. and it starts right up and it will run for a while (i had it running for over half an hour today..it did hit one point where for a few seconds it seemed like it was going to die out but it kept going fine for awhile after that. And sorry the ground i meant were the 2 wires near where the lower rad hose attatches to the block. fuel pump.sorry i thought there was one in the tank and another fuel thing on the lower passenger firewall..whatever that black cylinder is.

woa that is interesting sounds like a plice wire. do you have any exposed and defective wiring you should relly check that. if you were local i would take a look for you.

the only wire i noticed any defect at all was the blue wire for the tachometer..it was sautered back together but still exposed.
