Default my PY01 redlines at 3500 MADD VTAK!

hey im having some "issues" with my OBD2B-OBD2A jumper harness so my normal ECU is MIA for a little bit.
i grabbed my OBD2B-OBD1 jumper harness and my trusty p30 and... WHAM! runs perfect.... up to 3500 rev limiter. so i threw in my trusty P05 for the win....
and vtak'd all the way to 3500 redline powershifted 2nd and went off!
so i yoinked my friends DOHC programmed chipped P07/P06
same ish.
i tried another OBD1 jumper and my fuel didnt turn on at all.
so now im stuck running OBD2B GSR ecu throwing codes like a **** and idlebouncing at 1500 wherever i go experiencing random bogging at 3-4k

any ideas R community?
also... if this helps my OBD2 serial port isnt getting power. i plugged in my MAC reader and it didnt get any power signal what so ever.
i'd like to get this problem solved while i re-pin my OG jumper...

I had this problem with my GSR once. And it turned out to be wiring to the distributor related. It would cause the car to rev limit at 3500 rpms.

I did what you did, and swapped around ecu's, and different jumper harnesses. Sometimes the problem would change, or be solved, but then would come back.

Here is what I think might be happening with your setup. Your factory wiring at the ECU plugs is messed up. Specifically the wiring dealing with the distributor. When you plug in different harnesses, you nudge the bad wiring, and it shorts out differently, or not at all, and you are getting different results because of it.

I honestly think though, that it isn't an ECU or jumper problem at all. Rather, check all your factory wiring at the plugs, and make sure nothing is frayed. Also check to make sure that all your ECU pins are seated properly in the socket. A short in the wiring here, could deff. cause your OBD2 port to stop working.

Read your codes & diagnose them.
The GSR p72 ecu is not going to throw random codes....

he posted that his serial port isn't getting any power so he can't pull any codes. another way would the old fashioned paper clip just to get an idea of what code its throwing.

paperclip?
i think the "random codes" for the p72 are the secondary O2 sensor and i know that the GSR has a couple extra sensors on the IM. and since im having idle problems... i was thinking that to be the blame. and yesh i have been having trouble with my OE wiring... too many people thought they could hook up VAFCs and VTAK lights and stuff i guess before i got it. but i THOUGHT i had fixed all the looseness frayedness etc. maybe not.

The IAB's on a gsr won't throw a code.
That is the only major difference between the two ecus.

You need to read your codes & diagnose your wiring issues.
Good luck.
