Shouldn't have to do any major maintenance.

If only that meant keeping oil for 100k

Not really.

I got my timing belt changed after only 50k miles because by that point it was at least 5 years old.

Belts and hoses will dry rot, at the very least, over time. Fluids will break down or become dirty. It's good to do checkups and preventative maintenance.

i think they mean like "tune ups" as for not needing "maintenance" for 100k

The manual will tell you it's tune-up free for 100K miles and then it recommends nuw plugs. But regular maintenance is recommended.

yah i was just joking, i definatly plan on doing spark plugs/wires before 100k. As for the timing chain... do we change those or do they last the life of the engine?

Chains are much different than belts. You'd have to check the manual on that. They seem to be much more reliable and less prone to slipping or damaging.

i would pay someone to service your car. you dont have a clue about this motor. you dont have wires. you have coil packs. they are lifetime items. as well as the chain.

I'm pretty sure that the 100K maintenance free deal applies "under normal driving" conditions. Most maintenance issues are based on that concept. And i'm pretty sure that 99% of us DON'T "drive normally".

^^ yeah what he said lol the way most people drive on here would be considered Serve driving conditions... which would be @ 60k to the MAJOR service. and you really beat the crap outta your car its 30k ... thats if you wanta run at its tip top shape. that 100k crap is a marketing gimmic and well if your an old lady driving around ...ha (Just coming from an ex honda employee )
