im new to the h22a and there is a belt that i have never seen before. it goes from the main pulley to the front about the middle of the motor and connects to a shaft sticking out of the block. what is this and can it be removed?

 

Balance shaft belt? It's for keeping down the high-rpm vibrations inherent on larger 4-cylinder engines.

Removal is a 3-5whp gain from my experience....
Not sure what it does for longevity of the motor though. I DIDNT do it on mine.

 

is this something that i can just cut the belt on? for now until i can get the kit? the belt is shreading and its going to break. just want to prevent and damage it might cause when it breaks.

Going to leave that up to someone that has done it.....be patient.

 

now that i got what the part is called i did a search and found that i can just cut the belt without having any problems.
