From what I have heard from owners of the Mugen S1 seat, it has a lot more support than a Sparco or even Spoon seat. They have all recommended it to me. Too bad my *** won't fit in it...
What do you mean they wont fit . Because im planning to put them in my SI. Please tell me theyll fit.

those seats are WAY MORE comfy than the stock seats. It's almost like a big hand cradling j00
i'm 5'4, med build and fit in it perfectly.
ITR607 on the otherhand, is 6'2 200+lbs and drives in his to work daily and loves it.
it's not so much weight, but it all depends on how wide j00 are

The hell with fia I just want to know if a 185 5foot7 person would fit cool in them.
I am getting closer and closer to fitting them I think
I say this is a real comfortable seat. I've been on trips from LA-> Malibu and LA -> San Diego (about 2 hours) with no back aches or problems what soever. the padding in the head area feels good
I would recommend this seat as well.
As for FIA, well, it excEEds FIA standards. Mugen didn't want to proly get it approved because proly it was going to be used only in Japanese Spec races anyway. *shrugs* I am not worried about it (when am I going to FIA sanctioned events :D )

I for one, have not seen any documentation regarding the S1 seat exceeding FIA homogolation standards.
The only emprical evidence of a "rugged" seat is it can withstand a 40g rearward acceleration--which is only a small portion of the whole picture and I do not know if it is part of FIA testing standards.
How the seat performs with respect to the other FIA requirements I do not know either...I'm by no means a seat expert nor familiar with FIA testing.
However, I do know (as mentioned above) ~32 waist should fit...35-36 would probably be pushing it. At it's widest point, the seat is 290mm (rail to rail) so subtract a 30mm (give or take) to see if you think you can squeeze into the S1.

this form is getting better now...not so many flames, and no more " SEARCH"
anyway. ... i don't think those seat would be "comfortable"(for me as a daily drive), and as you know it's a race seats...better go with recaros ajustable. But some ppl can still get used to those seats and think they are pretty comfortable for daily drive...so depends.

Rumor has it, that Sparco made an Evo3... but I'm not too sure.

how could you not care about FIA certification? If you ever plan to race with them in your car you need to have them approved. They don't care if you have paper work saying their very safe and well exceed FIA cert. they care if the the seat has the FIA cert. on it. Trust me. I've raced and been in several race events were they check and are EXTREAMLY **** about this.
If you don't care about FIA certification, theirfore making them not legal for race use here in the US, then why get bucket seats? You can't use harnesses on the street, to you can only use them on the track. However the seat isn't legal, so you can't do that. Kinda stupid IMO. However I guess if you plan on just spending $900 on seats for looks, show, or just to have in a street car then I guess go ahead. lol Still makes no sense to me, kinda like buying Spoon rims for looks. lol But thats just me. The guy who cares more about function and use rather then cool looks and bling bling.
But yes to answer your question any thin or slim average guy will fit in them ok. However if your more on the broader side of average then you will fit into the tightly.

RBoosted: This is the main reason I can see getting moogen seats and not use them for racing: (slightly OT).
For an S2000: If you go over to s2ki, there are almost no rails designed for S2 yet. It's very tough to get recaro's in there. And if you're coming from recaro's in an R, or don't want leather period, this is one obvious choice. I wouldn't want the stock S2 seats, and I want a seat that will hold me in better. I'd rather have the Mugen seat (not certified, but pretty certain it'll hold up in a crash) than buy recaro's, and make my own rails (who knows what will happen in a crash).
Alright, this is way OT, but it's one example I could think of.

they have to carry a FIA certification on the side of them which shows the date they were made, the FIA certification number, the model of the seat and brand, the FIA spec number, and they have to be signed off I belive.
Oh yeah and most events even if your class doesn't require racing seats, during tech inspection they will still check to see if they are approved. Why? Because some seats are extreamly unsafe and are worse then stock seats safety wise and they don't want someone going out on the track, etc... with a seat like that. Which is why they look for this stuff.
